TACTIX Winter Workshop 2026
Workshop Dates: January 26-28, 2026
Location: Amsterdam University of Medical Center / Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Application Deadline: December 6, 2025
We are pleased to invite you to apply for the second in a series of three winter workshops focused on clinical and technical concepts related to multiple sclerosis (MS) research. This workshop series is organized under the EU-funded Twinning project, "Twinning Approach for Computational MRI Technology and Innovation Excellence in Türkiye" (TACTIX), in which Boğaziçi University coordinates a consortium with partners from Amsterdam University Medical Center (AUMC) in the Netherlands and Fraunhofer MEVIS in Germany. The workshop is a three-day event, accommodating 20 participants, with free registration, including light refreshments.
About TACTIX
The TACTIX project is a prestigious initiative aimed at enhancing the scientific excellence and innovation capacity of Boğaziçi University in the field of computational magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Esin Öztürk Işık and in collaboration with renowned European institutions, AUMC and Fraunhofer MEVIS, the project seeks to advance computational MRI research through shared expertise and collaborative innovation.
About TACTIX 2026 Winter Workshop
Subject and level:
- Topics Covered: The 2026 Winter Workshop will focus on advanced applications of arterial spin labelling (ASL) and cerebrovascular brain ageing. Sessions will cover ASL acquisition strategies, data harmonisation, quality control, cerebrovascular brain age modelling (T1w + FLAIR + ASL), and modelling and processing of BBB-ASL multi-TE data. The programme will combine lectures on clinical and technical concepts with case-based learning, practical insights into study design and interpretation, and hands-on tutorials using clinical-research tools, such as ExploreASL. Please note that registration is for the full programme and it is not possible to register for individual lectures only.
- Difficulty Level: Intermediate-Advanced. The workshop is intended for participants with an academic background and a foundational level of clinical and technical knowledge in MRI, who are comfortable working with basic computer and scripting tools for image processing. The workshop will include hands-on sessions working with processing software.
Eligibility and requirements:
- Target Audience: The workshop targets Early Career Researchers affiliated with research institutions in Türkiye, Fraunhofer MEVIS, AUMC, and other organizing institutions. Eligible participants include PhD students/candidates, Post-Doctoral researchers, Master’s students, and junior researchers. Priority will be given to those affiliated with Boğaziçi University and a maximum of 10 candidates from AUMC, Fraunhofer MEVIS, or the workshop organizers.
- Language Proficiency: All courses and materials will be conducted in English. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through an official language exam (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) or, in exceptional cases, via a brief personal interview conducted by members of the Evaluation Committee.
- Clinical Knowledge: Applicants should have a background in clinical research or practice, particularly in neurology, radiology, or related fields.
- Technical Knowledge: Participants should possess prior coursework or practical experience in biomedical engineering, medical imaging, statistics, clinical research, or computational sciences. A basic understanding of MRI technology and computational methods is required, and familiarity with digital tools and software for automatic image analysis is advantageous.
- Onsite Equipment: Participants are required to bring their own laptops. Specific software requirements will be provided in advance, with no paid software necessary.
Application Procedure:
- Deadline: December 6, 2025
- Submission: Applications must be submitted through the online form available at this link: https://forms.gle/SytNiBaVzrLFkCEQ8. Applicants will be asked to complete an application form, including their academic resume, English proficiency and responses to questions regarding their clinical and technical background, as well as their motivation for participating in the workshop.
We strongly encourage all eligible Early Career Researchers to apply for this unique opportunity to deepen their expertise in advanced ASL techniques and quantitative cerebrovascular imaging. Please note that participants will have the opportunity to take part in additional winter workshops, summer schools, and research exchanges as part of TACTIX's educational program.
The students, who attended the previous TACTIX Winter Workshop 2025 and Summer School 2025, are highly encouraged to apply to this Winter Workshop.
As a three-year project, TACTIX will be hosting a variety of events in the upcoming months and years, including summer schools, winter workshops, seminars, public information days and many more. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to participate by following us on X, LinkedIn, and our website. We look forward to your continued engagement with the TACTIX project!
