MRI Basics for MS Research

Short Description: This tutorial provides an introduction to neuroradiological imaging for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), the basics of clinical diagnosis, followed by tutorials on neuroradiological evaluation, important diseases mimicking MS, and a case-by-case diagnostic tutorial on MS.

Target Audience: Graduate students, researchers, and medical doctors aiming to do research in the field of MS or interested in learning the basics of MRI diagnostics in MS

Prerequisites: Basic understanding of MRI

Tutorial Objectives:

  1. Understand the fundamental clinical diagnostic criteria for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) (e.g., McDonald Criteria) and its typical disease progression.

  2. Identify the standard MRI sequences used in neuroradiology (T1, T2, FLAIR, and contrast-enhanced) specifically for neuroinflammatory diseases.

  3. Demonstrate the ability to distinguish MS from "mimic" diseases based on lesion morphology, location, and clinical context.

  4. Step-by-step MS diagnostic case analysis
